Apr 26, 2022

We all know by now that bricks are a highly resilient material and can withstand plenty of wear and tear. However, it's always best to take care of them properly so they can stay in top condition for a long time to come. One of the methods that can help you achieve that goal is sealing. Do you want to learn how to impregnate a brick wall, and when should you do that? Then read on!

Do you have to seal bricks?

Before we learn how to impregnate demolition bricks, we should answer why it’s an issue in the first place. Many homeowners tend to ask whether this task is actually necessary, and the answer is yes! Even though bricks are well known for their strength and durability, they are quite porous, which means they can quickly absorb water. In the short term, it won’t matter much, but over the years, the presence of moisture can even lead to the decay of the bricks. They will become crumbly and uneven, and their integrity will be compromised. Unsealed bricks will also create an optimal environment for fungal growth, which can weaken them even more. We know that impregnating exterior bricks is a must, but what about those inside your home? If they’re located in a room where there’s a lot of moisture and humidity, like a bathroom, you should definitely seal it.

It is worth mentioning that some versions of sealer will have a much more liquid texture, and this will make them tough to apply with a roller. If that’s the case, you may want to reach for a hand-pump garden sprayer. It will allow you to quickly and efficiently spray the sealer on the brick wall.
