How much do bricks for brick cladding cost?

You can expect to pay between £250 and £400 per 1,000 standard wire-cut bricks. It means that for one square metre, you need to spend around £12.5 to £20. Of course, reclaimed bricks will cost extra as they are high in demand and their supply is limited. What about the brick cladding system? The cost of this solution starts from around £18 per square metre but can go over £60 when we look at the premium products. The price range is more diverse as manufacturers offer various sizes, colours and textures of these items. Brick veneer is usually sold in packs of 30 pieces, which can cover around half of a square metre of wall. Similarly to traditional bricks, reclaimed brick slips will cost extra as they are created from the existing elements.

At first, it may seem that traditional bricks are more affordable. But up to this point, we’ve been looking only at the price of the raw material. To get the full picture, we need to factor in the installation process as well. When we add the cost of labour, it shows that brick cladding can be a more reasonable solution. Why? Because compared to solid bricks, it requires way less work during installation. You don’t need to hire an experienced bricklayer to put the veneer on the wall - you may install it by yourself. Meanwhile, standard bricks need a little bit more expertise if you want to be sure the quality of the final product is top-notch. Bear in mind that local labour rates may vary depending on your location. Of course, you can look for a company that provides installation along with the brick delivery, which will make you save a little. 

Another factor that will influence the overall price is the size of the area you want to clad. Brick finish around the fireplace will be much cheaper than coating the whole exterior of the house in a full or partial brick veneer. Additional costs that you need to pencil in include mortar mix, adhesive and corner pieces, which are more expensive to manufacture.
