Black brick interior - how to fit it in?

It’s been a long time since brick was simply a construction element. Nowadays, it’s mostly used as a decorative material, both inside and outside. Of course, there are plenty of styles and colours you can choose from – from classic reds, through softer beiges and greys and all the way to much more intense shades. But if you want to spice up your rooms, you can try to bet on a modern black brick wall. How to incorporate them into your home?

Black is a common yet quite demanding colour, so using it in your rooms can come with some challenges. The main one is to properly balance the amount of the dark colour your interior can take – you don’t want to overwhelm the space, but at the same time, too little of the black brick may be a little bit too contrasting if the rest of the area is very bright. So where and how can you use the black brick efficiently?

In order to design a comprehensive design, you can create a black brick interior that matches the dark wall to other dark elements in the room, such as furniture or decorative pieces. Don’t use just the black though! Instead, play with some other, much more intriguing colours, such as forest green, navy, chocolate browns or even deep and rusty reds. 

Bricks are a very favoured material for kitchens, so why don’t you use a black brick wall as your backsplash? Add some dark cabinets, and you’ll make a modern and sleek interior. Or you can choose light furniture and play nicely with the contrasts in the room. 

Another black brick interior design idea focuses on using dark colours only in one corner of the room - most preferably the living room or bedroom - where you can create a snug nook. The use of black brick walls and other dark hues will make it feel cosy, and you’ll be tempted to just curl there with a good book and a cup of tea.

If you’re a fan of rustic or industrial style, you can mix the black brick wall with some dark and heavy wooden features. More wooden elements will make the interiors look more rustic and cosy. On the other hand, if you prefer modern and industrial chic, expose pipes and add some metal pieces and smart lighting. If you have large windows in the room, it will improve the overall design even more. 

Your bedroom can be a black brick interior as well! One of the ways you can achieve that is by installing the brick on the wall opposite your bed. Mount the TV, add some black shelves and other dark features, and you’ll create a perfect background for evening movie marathons in the bed. And because you used just dark colours on the black brick wall, your eyes won’t be distracted by anything bright.
